Vision

The youth ministry of Colonial Baptist Church (YCBC) is a  partnership between parents and this church whereby this ministry works with parents to fulfill their biblical responsibility of cultivating the spiritual growth of their children.

Mission

The YCBC Ministry will partner with parents to grow disciples to reach the world for Christ.

Philosophy of Ministry

Colonial Baptist upholds the biblical teaching that parents are the primary Christian educators in the church. We also believe that the family is the God ordained institution for building the faith of youth and for passing along the faith from generation to generation ( Deut. 6:6-7, Ps. 78:1-8 ) Furthermore, we maintain that youth are not merely the future of the church, but are active members of the body now. Regardless of your age, God has an expectation of how you ought to live and a purpose for our life. (Eph. 4:1-7 )

Therefore, the youth ministries of Colonial Baptist are not intended to substitute or even supplement the God ordained duties of the parents. They are intended to synchronize with parents so as to come along side in the development of the children ’ s spiritual lives.

Philosophy of Ministry

  1. Everything I Do must honor God above all.
    (1 Corinthians 10:31)
  2. We are to be biblical stewards of everything God has entrusted to us. (Matthew 6:19-21)
  3. God has ordained parents as the primary disciplers of their children. (Deut. 6:4-9)
  4. God has ordained the church to support, equip, and resource families. (Ephesians 4:12)
  5. The goal of Youth ministry is to make disciples who seek to bring others into a relationship with Christ. (Matthew 28:19-20)
  6. The three primary needs of students and adults alike are: love and care, a model to follow, and the truth to build their life on. ( 1 Peter 2:21)
  7. Effective Youth ministry co-champions the family and the church. (Acts 2:42-47)
  8. A biblical framework is always valued over cultural relevancy. Scripture alone will guide. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
